Become a Nifty Seller
How selling with Nifty works
Bring your vintage & pre-loved clothing into our Cashel Street location, and have it sold in our store! We’ll do the work for you, moving it onto the next person to love.
- Nifty will price your items for you (the price will vary according to item’s age, condition, brand, quality etc.).
- We will get your items ready to sell, and they will be on our racks ready to be sold within 3 weeks. You will be notified via email, and then you’re on the way to turning your clothes into cash.
- Your pieces can remain in store for up to 6 weeks.
- In the unlikely event that some of your pieces have not sold after 5 weeks, we will offer the item at a discounted price, for the remaining week.
- If there are any remaining unsold items by the end of your 6 week period, those items will be donated to our donation partner, the Christchurch City Mission. If you have remaining unsold items that you want to collect back, it is important for you to come in-store before the expiry date. Simply collect your items off the floor, bring them up to the counter with your photo ID, and one of our lovely team will help return those items to you. Please leave aside 20-30 minutes for this.
- Once your pieces have been sold to the next loving owner, you will receive 50% of the final sale price.
- If your consignor balance is under $150, simply pop in store to receive your funds. We can offer payment through cash, pay your balance back onto your card, or you can use it as store credit to make a purchase.
- If your consignor balance is over $150, you can request a bank transfer by emailing hi@niftymarkets.co.nz.
What to sell
We sell vintage and considered pre-loved clothing. We aim to accept pieces that we think will sell with our audience, and will last the distance for their next owner.
We particularly love pieces that are; vintage, retro, timeless, quality basics, trendy, good quality.
Although our focus is vintage clothing, we will sometimes accept pieces from fast fashion brands that are in good condition.
There are some brands which we do
not accept;
SHEIN, Ghanda, Cider, Zaful, Kmart/ANKO, The Warehouse, Postie+, Boohoo, Pretty Little Thing, Fashion Nova, Cotton On, Jay Jays, Whistle, Missguided, Mirrou, Nasty Gal, New Look, Hallensteins, H&M, Tarocash, yd, Dotti, Pagani, Glassons (vintage Pagani, and vintage Glassons & Hallensteins are ok).
We ask that your clothing please be freshly laundered and folded when you bring them in-store.
If you are unsure about what would be saleable through Nifty, give us a call - or better yet, pop in store. We’d love to see ya.
What to bring
Bring your photo ID and at least 3 x pieces of clothing that are in good, clean condition (we suggest bringing a few more items, in case some items cannot be accepted) into our Cashel Street location.
A Nifty team member will look over your items, and let you know then and there, which items we believe we can sell on your behalf.
If you’re a first time seller at Nifty, set aside 30 minutes so we can look through your clothing, and chat with you about how selling works, and get you clued up.
You can bring your clothing in to sell with us during opening hours.
Please note that if we have an event on, such as a market, we do not take clothing on these days. It can be busier than usual in-store, and we don't want to keep our valued consignors waiting.
