About Us

Nifty is a vintage and pre-loved clothing store based in Ōtautahi, Christchurch. What started as a sustainably-themed flea market in 2018 has grown into a space where people can buy and sell quality secondhand clothing — without the fast fashion hangover.

We started with a simple idea: to make shopping secondhand fun, accessible, and community-focused. The first Nifty Market took place at Benny’s Barber Shop in Sydenham, bringing together local sellers, creatives, and vintage lovers under one roof. The idea came from Ōtautahi local Rosie, who saw the need for more conscious shopping spaces in the city — and decided to make one happen.

Over the years, the markets popped up at iconic spots, all over the city — from the Isaac Theatre Royal to La Voûte. Building a loyal following and a strong sense of community along the way. In October 2022, Nifty opened its first brick-and-mortar store on Cashel Street. These days, you can shop and sell with us six days a week, with seasonal flea markets, and events still happening right out of our space.

We run on a consignment model — which means we sell clothing on behalf of others. It’s a way to keep clothing in circulation, help people refresh their wardrobe sustainably, and find pieces that really speak to their style.

At the end of the day, it’s about more than just clothes. Nifty is a space to connect, create, and shop in a way that feels good. Pop into the store, swing by a market — we’re always glad to see you.
